What is a chiropractor?

A chiropractor is a trained, licensed professional doctor that improves the function of the body, without unneeded drugs or surgeries, by removing interference to and improving the function of the master system of the body, the brain and nervous system.

Are chiropractors doctors?

Yes. Chiropractors or a D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) gets a doctorate degree from an accredited university. Chiropractors are licensed as doctors in every state of the Union.

Does chiropractic work?

I always say, “there’s an adjustment for everyone. We just have to find the right one for you.” Yes. Chiropractic works. If you remove the interference to and improve the function of the brain and nervous system, that is always a good thing. Sometimes people need other interventions like surgery because their problem is so advanced. We can determine if that is needed. In most cases, it is not. But if you go to the surgeon first, their tool is surgery, so what will they want to do with you?

Are chiropractors safe?

Chiropractors are extremely safe. Chiropractors actually have one of the lowest malpractice rates of any healthcare professional. That says a lot.

How many chiropractic sessions do you need?

This all depends on what is all going on, how much damage has occurred and the state of your health coming into the clinic. A healthy, athletic 20 year old will be much quicker to respond than a 50 year old with diabetes, obesity and neuropathy.

Why should you choose our office?

Our office is very unique. We have done a lot of advanced training in functional neurology and functional medicine to really get at the roots of people’s problems. If you are looking to get “popped” then our office is not for you. If you are looking to fix problems and get your health and your life back, come see us because that is what we do every day.

What are common chiropractic techniques?

There are many techniques – from light force techniques that work on tone and slow changes to heavier techniques that improve joint function very quickly. We have to determine what is best for you and we do that through our consultation and exam.

What does a chiropractor treat?

Chiropractors treat the brain and nervous system. We do this through improving joint, muscle, tendon and ligament function. When these tissues work better, the signals into the brain work better. We call the condition of those tissues not functioning correctly a Subluxation. Some offices, like ours, also deal with chronic inflammation states by improving gut and liver function through diet and supplementation.

Can I get chiropractic care during pregnancy?

Yes. And it is highly recommended. Of course, we would want to coordinate with your OB-GYN. But chiropractic care is great for pregnancy.

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

We tell patients that they can feel one of three ways after an adjustment: They can feel better, they don’t have much change, or they can feel worse. Feeling worse is usually soreness, kind of like after doing a hard workout. When the body changes, some soreness can occur.

Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

Yes. Very safe. It’s been said that it’s more likely to be struck by lightning, twice, than it is to have issues with chiropractic adjustments.

Are all patients adjusted the same way?

No. All adjustments are individualized for the need of that patient.

Can I learn to adjust myself?

No. However, people have tried. I usually see these people in my office when trying to do this because they’ve injured themselves. I do not recommend you try to do adjustments on yourself.

Is chiropractic treatment appropriate for children?

Very much so. Kids are growing, active, falling, rough housing, playing sports, etc. Get their spine and nervous system checked for issues. An old saying, “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.” Help your kids bodies function at a good level with chiropractic care
