Freedom Health’s Specialized Knee Pain Management Program
Knee pain affects millions of Americans each year, preventing them from living their most fulfilling lives. When the protective cartilage in the joint wears down, osteoarthritis will develop, causing extreme discomfort and pain. While osteoarthritis can occur in any joint, it’s most common in the knee.
Osteoarthritis can present the following symptoms:
- Joint pain
- Tenderness
- Stiffness
- Swelling around the joint
- Loss of flexibility
- Grating sensations
- Bone spurs
Viscosupplementation Injections for knee pain and osteoarthritis
Using this innovative therapy, we can rejuvenate both lubrication and shock absorption to the joint. This therapy is a conservative, natural alternative to corticosteroid injections or over-the-counter, NSAID pain relievers. In this procedure, a gel-like fluid called hyaluronic acid is injected into the knee joint to counteract the deterioration caused by osteoarthritis.
Physical Therapy Solutions for knee pain
Physical therapy will help to reduce the knee pain, regain function, restore strength and make mobility easier. Much of this is achieved with a series of supervised exercises, as well as physical therapy that includes pain-reduction therapies.
- Manual therapy to decrease pain, increase range of motion and improve function
- Therapeutic exercises that will strengthen hip muscles to decrease knee stress, fortify thigh muscles to improve function of the knee and stabilize ankles to improve balance
- Functional exercises tailored to your activity level
- Self-management education to reduce chance of recurrence
